Position: Business Development Manager
Reporting to: Commercial Director
Location: South Godstone, hybrid, UK
Role Description:
The primary function of the business development manager is to increase company revenue. Blue Elephant are a successful AV and scenic supplier to the events industry and the role is focussed on extending the reach of the company services into specified markets, expanding the client portfolio and developing strong and long lasting relationships with key stakeholders. This is a senior position in the business and works closely with the commercial director to ensure that all sales efforts align with business goals, whilst demonstrating exceptional client service to the wider team.
Responsibilities:
- Identifying suitable new business opportunities, clients and markets.
- Conducting proactive sales outreach activities such as calls, meetings and credentials presentations.
- Building strong relationships with new and existing clients.
- Identifying key existing accounts for growth, creating and implementing development plans for each.
- Taking project briefs and supporting the client with a consultancy led approach to provide appropriate AV and scenic solutions, drawing on
team resources when required.
- Attending site visits and client meetings.
- Collaborating with the technical team to support client concept designs.
- Generating competitive quotes and proposals.
- Owning the opportunity by acting as the point of contact, championing the client journey through the business and ensuring an exceptional service experience from start to finish.
- Negotiation and deal closing.
- Staying up to date with market trends to ensure that the company services are relevant to its client’s needs.
- CRM management and lead capture activities.
- Attending industry events to build relationships with new and existing clients and partners.
- Creating a hospitality schedule, attending activities and generating business opportunities.
- Supporting the company marketing endeavours.
- Creating and maintaining accurate sales forecasts.
- Successfully delivering on KPI’s such as revenue and GP.
- Any other duties as required by the business.
Required Skills and Experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills both written and verbal.
- Proven experience of securing new business in the events industry, preferably working for an audio visual or event technology business.
- A deep understanding of the live events industry and the requirements of the relevant stakeholders.
- An understanding of video, audio and lighting technologies.
- An up to date knowledge of the AV marketplace including products and trends.
- Ability to deliver compelling pitches.
- Commercial awareness.
- Good IT skills and use of Microsoft and Google platforms.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
Hours and Conditions
Core hours 40 hrs per week.
Flexibility and availability out of hours is required subject to the requirements of the role.
